There are a lot of topical beauty products available in the market today, but some of the best beauty elixirs can come from the kitchen. What we ingest is vital to achieving healthy, glowing skin, and freshly made raw juices can have surprising effects on your skin’s texture and tone over time.

1. For Radiant Skin: Orange Tomato Basil Smoothie

This three-ingredient smoothie is great at achieving that oh so radiant and flawless skin. Pump tomato, basil, and orange in your morning juicer and make it your morning beauty regimen.

Tomato naturally contains antioxidants, and it helps minimize the appearance of large pores to reduce sebum secretion in oily skin. The shiny, plump fruit helps prevent and treat acne as well as discoloration. Meanwhile, orange is rich in vitamin C. It helps flush body toxins, improves skin texture, and serves as a useful agent for a clear complexion. And while we love basil leaves on our Thai food, this anti-inflammatory herb is also an excellent addition to your drinks.

Ingredients:

  • 3 large tomatoes
  • 2 oranges
  • 1/2 oz. basil (leaves)

Directions:

  1. Wash all vegetables and fruits thoroughly using apple cider vinegar diluted in water to remove pesticide residue.
  2. Dry the ingredients with a kitchen towel.
  3. Cut tomatoes into four slices.
  4. Peel orange.
  5. Cut orange into four slices.
  6. Chop basil leaves into fine strips.
  7. Juice the tomatoes and orange slices.
  8. Sprinkle basil leaves on top.
  9. Serve in a glass.

2. For Skin Brightening: Green Apple and Cucumber Medley

Green apple is an excellent skin food to achieve naturally glowing skin. It contains vitamins A, B, C, E, and has anti-oxidants that help slow down premature aging. If regularly added to your diet it can assist in maintaining elasticity of the skin and preventing wrinkles. Cucumber’s high water content makes it perfect for skin hydration. It also contains ascorbic acid and caffeic acid, elements which aid skin irritation and reduce swelling. These acids also prevent water retention.

Here’s a drink recipe to add to your regular diet:

Ingredients:

  • 1 green apple
  • 1 medium cucumber
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 1/2 lemon

Directions:

  1. Wash all vegetables and fruits thoroughly using apple cider vinegar diluted in water to remove pesticide residue.
  2. Cut apple into four slices. Set aside.
  3. Cut cucumber into three slices.
  4. Juice all ingredients in a juicer.
  5. Serve in a glass. Pour over ice for a colder option.

3.For Anti-Aging: Pineapple Carrot Ginger Smoothie

We love our pineapples in a piña colada, but here’s another reason to use this tropical fruit in your drink: it helps keep skin flexible and firm. It contains vitamin C and amino acids, which help increase collagen synthesis and reduce acne. It provides a high amount of anti-inflammatory substances that help the body heal and prevent breakouts.

Carrots, on the other hand, contain vitamin A an d beta carotene, a natural and powerful antioxidant that helps fight free radicals and slows down the aging process.

For this recipe, we added ginger, a powerful ingredient which contains 40 antioxidant compounds that prevent skin damage from free radicals.

Ingredients:

  • 2 large carrots (leave skin on if organic)
  • 1/2 ripe pineapple (cored and husked)
  • 1-inch piece of ginger

Directions:

  1. Wash all vegetables and fruits thoroughly using apple cider vinegar diluted in water to remove pesticide residue.
  2. Slice pineapple into chunks.
  3. Cut carrots into four slices.
  4. Peel ginger and prepare 1 inch for juicing.
  5. Juice all ingredients.
  6. Serve.
  7. Drink as is or pour over ice.

Tip: For a more refreshing cold drink, store the fruits and vegetables in the fridge overnight before juicing.
