Its new Experimental Series pushes the boundaries of traditional whiskymaking. First up: the Glenfiddich IPA Experiment, the first single malt whisky that’s finished in IPA beer casks. Glenfiddich IPA Experiment William Grant & Sons master blender Brian Kinsman collaborated with Speyside Craft Brewery owner Seb Jones to create a new bespoke IPA to be used for the Glenfiddich American oak barrels where the Glenfiddich IPA Experiment matures. The IPA is stored in the casks for months and then transferred to Glenfiddich, where the whisky is added. The result is a rich, golden whisky with 43 percent ABV. It has floral and citrusy notes with hints of fresh hops and a malty finish reminiscent of pale ale. For whisky and beer lovers, this combination allows you to have the best of both worlds in one dram.
