This October, Johnnie Walker launches Johnnie Weekend Creators Lab Series, a collaboration workshop and event showcase that brings together local trailblazers from the fields of food, film, music, and sports to inspire people to keep moving forward by providing new opportunities and venues to grow their passions and craft.

For the first installment of the Creators Lab series featured a collaboration between photographers Marvin Conanan of Purveyr (a media, events, and retail brand focused on Philippine creative culture) and photographer/videographer/DJ Deej Fabian that highlighted local photography and music. Conanan and Fabian took budding photographers from different fields for an audio-visual exercise around the eclectic Poblacion district. For inspiration, they were given a short playlist of local music by AschShe’s Only Sixteen, and CRWN  to translate into visuals of the thriving community captured during their photo walk.

The culmination of the workshop was an exhibit at Dulo MNL, an emerging artist’s haven in the heart of Poblacion. It highlighted the works of six featured photographers Alyssa Uy, Ryan Tionloc, Aly Mananquil, Renzo Navarro, Jilson Tiu, and Poj Gearlan as well as other talented artists who participated in the creative exercise. The photographs offered fresh ways to see the bustling neighbourhood and gave a glimpse of what these up-and-coming photographers can accomplish. The team chose Dulo MNL for the exhibit because it is a free space that transforms depending on who is there, and the people behind it are committed to elevating the local creative community.

A new instalment for the Johnnie Weekend Creators Lab series will be introduced every month. The workshops and events aim to create spaces where like-minded people can come together and share their views and experiences over glasses of Johnnie Walker, with a focus on passion and craftsmanship, two ideals that the Scotch brand constantly pursues.

“Johnnie Walker exists to inspire personal progress—to inspire people to never stand still and always keep walking,” shares Andrea Raralio, Johnnie Walker’s senior brand manager.

Guests were treated to cocktails by Diageo brand ambassador Rian Assidao, Jay Natividad of Bitters, and Ian James Osillo of Exit Bar. The drinks demonstrated the art of mixing drinks using Johnnie Walker and featured the limited edition Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch and Johnnie Walker Double Black.

The JohnnieWeekend Creators Lab Series is an innovative approach to showcasing local talent while inspiring a new generation to keep moving forward and continue to pursue the things they are truly passionate about. Its debut was a resounding success, and the next instalments of the series are definitely something to watch out for.

Chrysmas is your go-to gal for all things involving alcohol. She maneuvers her way through the Metro's traffic in her black boots and fishnet stockings, scouring places where one can indulge one's self in libations of all kinds. From Poblacion to Pasay, Malate to Makati, Tagaytay to Taguig. Ask her where to go to get your choice of poison and chances are she's already there holding a good stiff drink in one hand and a pen in the other.
