June 10 celebrates National Iced Tea Day, and a lot of countries have followed in the celebration as well. Here are five tea concoctions for you to make at home for National Iced Tea Day or just for a sweet treat from this hot hot weather: TRIVIA: Adding ice in tea has been a practice in the United States since the 1870s during hot summers, and it was made famous in 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis when a tea plantation owner started giving out samples of his tea to fair visitors which included ice. It was a hot day at that time, so the drink was a hit among the fairgoers. The Prohibition, which ran from 1920 to 1933, also boosted the drink's popularity as Americans looked for alternative drinks from alcohol. 1) Green Tea Spritz A nice afternoon or anytime drink, the Green Tea Spritz is a spiked green tea with freshness coming from the lemon and fragrance of kaffir and hint of ginger spiciness Watch the video recipe on this link 2) Four Berry Iced Tea A refreshing replacement for high tea, this mocktail reminds us of afternoons in the country, watching the setting sun and relaxing with a good cup, or in this case, mug of cold tea.
