Gin enthusiasts from far and wide headed to Bar Rouge at New World Makati to get tipples of G&Ts and gin cocktails. Guests were ready to get their gin on and had a selection of gin and tonic combinations on the menu. The featured gins were Ramsbury Gin, Hanami Gin, Empress 1908 Gin, Langleys No. 08, Langleys Old Tom Gin, and Etsu Gin. After the gin and tonic buffet, guests got to try three unique gin cocktails. DrinkManila’s mixologist Icy Mariñas went behind the stick to whip up some crowd favorites. The playful pretty Purple Unicorn (Empress 1908 Gin, Fever Tree Indian Tonic Water, lemon wheel, tarragon, grapefruit peel, grapefruit bitters, rose tea and blue pea ice cubes, cotton candy), a fun, colorful drink that balances the earthiness of Empress 1908 Gin with the sweet goodness of cotton candy and the crisp notes of fresh citrus, tarragon, and floral herb ice cubes. And Furiosa (Hanami Gin, strawberry purée, Giffard Mango Syrup, lemon juice, kimchi powder, lemon peel, kimchi chip), named after the female lead of the dystopian film Mad Max: Fury Road. Brave, fierce, and fearless, the cocktail mixes sweet with sour and spicy in one sip. Bar Rouge also offered a signature cocktail called Subarashi containing Empress 1908 Gin, green apple, lemon juice, honey syrup, wasabi, lemon bitters, egg white, garnished with lemon oil and nori. Ramsbury G&T with lemon, clove, and tonic People loved these gin cocktails and enjoyed them while listening to the beats of Toti Dalmacion and the rest of Groove Nation (check them out every Friday night for ConTempo Nights at Bar Rouge). Guests came in to quench their thirst for gin and everyone had a great time, surrounded by friends and other gin enthusiasts. It was a fitting way to cap off this year’s World Gin Month!
