We live in a hyper-connected world. We can chat with people halfway across the globe, get updates on news from around the world in real-time, and have everything delivered to our doorsteps with the click of a button. Technological advances have made distance almost irrelevant, but while we’ve made strides in getting people more connected online, we’re increasingly becoming more disconnected in real life.

FaceTime has replaced real face time, and group chats have taken over hanging out with your barkada. While the ease and convenience of online connectivity are useful and can be beneficial in a lot of ways, nothing beats face-to-face interactions.

We want to encourage building connections that matter and increase closeness in relationships by meeting in real life. It’s more rewarding to catch up over a drink in person. We’ve taken four pairs of people (in-laws, a married couple, co-workers, and manager/mentee) for this fun DrinkManila Tipple Tales episode. These are people who haven’t seen each other in a while or see each other often but don’t get to take a break and connect with each other. We gave them some beer to loosen them up and some questions, ranging from ‘What was your first impression of me’ to ‘How do you really feel about my family’ and ‘How would you describe me to other people’ to ‘What would you put on my dating profile.’ Watch them reminisce over old times over San Miguel Beers while getting to know each other better in this segment called, Catch Up.

In-laws Nick and Icy
Married couple Star and Kay
Former mentor and mentee Ani and Luisa
Colleagues turned close friends Nadine and JP

After the session, our guest pairs attest to learning more about the other person in their life. A few minutes bonding over ice-cold beers and answering some fun questions made them more connected and in touch with each other’s lives. This holiday season, try this fun sit-downs with your loved ones and catch up on each other’s lives.
