Whisky is still seen as one of the intimidating spirits in the market, especially for the younger crowd. With an effort to introduce whisky to young consumers, engage current whisky lovers, and celebrate International Scotch Day, Johnnie Walker recently launched its newest pop-up bar: The Johnnie Highball Arcade. It’s an immersive space that mixed the fun Johnnie Highball Collection with arcade games that entertained guests who are young and young-at-heart.

Its 3-day run from February 6 to 8 at the newest Poblacion hotspot, Kondwi, got everyone in a playful frame of mind. The spotlight was on the Johnnie & Lime Highball and the rest of the Johnnie Highball Collection. Guests had the option of enjoying their Johnnie Highball served in flights or prepared on their own at the DIY Highball Bar.

Johnnie Walker Highballs: Johnnie Walker Black and Lime Soda, Johnnie Walker Double Black and Ginger Ale, and Johnnie Walker Gold Label and Apple Juice

“There are no rules to enjoying whisky,” says Diageo Reserve Brand Ambassador Rian Assidao. He gave a quick introduction to mixing our own Johnnie Highball and suggested the best mixers that would pair with different Johnnie Walker blends. The zestiness of lime soda pairs with the fruity-smokiness of the Black Label, the intense smokiness of the Double Black goes with the spice and sweetness of ginger ale, and the Gold Reserve pairs well with the acidity of the apple juice. “These pairings complement each unique flavor in the Johnnie Highball Collection. This is a testament to the fact that there are many ways to enjoy whisky” Rian says.
