Three winners get to go on a five-day eco-cultural experience for two in Don Papa Rum’s home, Sugarlandia, better known as Negros Occidental. “Negrenses have been calling Negros Sugarlandia for a very long time and we kind of borrowed the term to encapsulate the world of Don Papa,” shares Monica Llamas-Garcia, Head of Brand and Communications during the virtual press event held on Thursday, October 8. “Negros Island is an island worth discovering, escaping to. Diving into local food culture and immersing oneself in the flora and fauna, we felt would be a great way to reenergize once this pandemic ends. Negros is known for its delicacies, so the winners will get to indulge in the most delicious dishes that the island has to offer, with a glass of rum on the side, of course! Scharlin reveals that winners of the contest will experience an exclusive tour, which includes the sugar-making process and sugar mills that were established 150 years ago. “You get to see the process and then you get to see some of the science behind Don Papa Rum and how it becomes what it becomes.” “Sugarlandia is a real place, but in the world of Don Papa, it’s also a place of magic and mystery.” Scharlin continues. “We want them to experience the real place, the real people of Negros, as well as the Don Papa version.
