His bar was flattened by the typhoon but chose to stay and rebuild and continue with the legacy of Manu in the island. I lost everything after the typhoon myself, so I didn’t have to think long to help local families and their children to quickly restart their income and bring back Siargao’s coconut glory. It is the responsibility of people to help and protect the ones that need it the most.” “We chose trusted rum brand Don Papa as a partner for this. They have supported the bartender community and sustainability of flora and fauna in Negros Island,” he adds. He’s inspired other bars in Siargao to join the cause. Six venues: Manu, Sidargo, Siago, Mama Coco, Bayani, and Banhaw, have each created a signature cocktail using Don Papa Rum which symbolise Siargao Island. A percentage of the sales from the cocktails will be donated to Lokal Lab NGO to help the reforestation in Siargao Island.
