These three masters, with over a hundred years of whisky-making experience, have come together for the first and only time to create this special edition. Highland Park Triskelion “It was fun and a real honor to work again with John and Max. We decided to create an unaged single malt as this gave us complete flexibility to consider a whole range of different cask types, flavor profiles as well as ages,” shared Gordon Motion, the distillery’s current whisky maker. “It took us a while to agree on the final flavor profile, but we are very proud of the result — it tested our skill set, our craftsmanship but not our friendship!” Master Whisky Makers (L-R) Gordon Motion, John Ramsay, Max McFarlane The Highland Park Triskelion is a combination of whiskies matured in first-fill sherry-seasoned Spanish oak butts, first-fill sherry seasoned American oak casks, and first-fill bourbon barrels and hogsheads balanced with a small quantity of refill casks to add a degree of softness to the whisky’s final flavor. “It’s a diplomatic whisky that caters to a really big flavor and taste profile. It starts off as light and very pleasant, none of the usual polarizing flavors of a usual peated whisky. There’s a lot of complexity in it as well, and can cater to a big spectrum of whisky drinkers, or even would-be whisky drinkers,” says Highland Park brand advocate Adrian Tecson during the online launch with select members of the media for Highland Park Triskelion, in partnership with Served Manila. Highland Park Brand Advocate Adrian Tecson Guests received a gift box, emblazoned with the Highland Park Triskelion symbol. Inside was a tasting portion of Triskelion plus a few food items like dried orange, dried apricot, Madagascar vanilla bean, and crème brûlée to help get to know the flavor notes of the whisky. The Triskelion symbol used in this project represents wisdom and inspiration, and can also stand for the three powerhouse whisky makers who came together to create this special blend. While in Norse mythology, the Horn Triskelion shows three interlocking horns which is associated with the Mead of Poetry. Highland Park Triskelion The Highland Park Triskelion is bottled at 45.1% ABV, higher than most whiskies. It has a deep russet natural color, with aromas of oranges, coriander seeds, crème brûlée, cloudy honey, lightly peated with a hint of rose. It’s a full-bodied and complex whisky with notes of orange peel, apricots, cumin, vanilla, heather honey and aromatic peat smoke throughout the palate with a lingering sweet, citrusy, and spicy finish. The trademark Highland Park flavor profile — aromatic smoky peat and sweet heather honey — shines in this special edition. This limited-edition Highland Park Triskelion retails for Php 16,800 for each 700 ml bottle. Only about 50 bottles are available in the country.
