Taking place on June 26, 2023 at F1 Hotel Manila, BGC from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, the much-awaited competition gathers some of the top baristas and coffee professionals in the country to battle it out to see who will be the country’s representative to the Asia-Pacific finals in Malaysia in November. The MONIN Coffee Creativity Cup (MCCC) competition allows contestants to show their coffee knowledge, technical abilities, and drink-making skills to a panel of expert judges. This year’s theme centers on engaging the five senses, so contestants are tasked to create the most creative espresso-based mocktail that appeals to all five senses (sight, smell, sound, taste, and touch). They will be judged on how well they incorporate each of the five senses into their drink. Cebu CIty Rolly C. dela Cruz of Atup Cafe, Camiguin Island Steven Sula of Barista Masters and Constancy, Cainta Rizal Lorenzo Castillo of Candid Coffee John Mark Trapani of Figaro Coffee, Quezon City Gabrielle Louis G. Figueroa of Ice Cube Kopi, Cavite Karl Zouriel O Lat of Variables Specialty Coffee, Batangas Larry Andrada of OTO The winner of the competition will be representing the Philippines in the Asia-Pacific finals in Malaysia in November. They will be competing against over a dozen countries from India to Southeast Asia, the Australasia region, North Asia and China. “We recognise the positive changes in the coffee trend and want to encourage it to continue.
