MO Bar at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore is the recipient of this year’s Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award from Asia’s 50 Best Bars Academy. The recognition, an accolade given to the bar that has offered outstanding service to its guests in the past 18 months, attests to the importance of exceptional service, especially during these challenging times for the industry.

The bar debuted on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2020 at number 46 and has been recognized for its creative menu, as well as for its exemplary service. Located on the 4th floor of Singapore’s Mandarin Oriental, MO Bar is inspired by the Pacific Ocean, the culture of Asia’s ports, and its travelers, which is reflected on their seasonal menu.

The bar’s team traveled through Southeast Asia to explore new techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles to come up with the Volume 1 Menu, which was the beginning of the Nomadic Forager Series. Volume 2 focused on the physical collaborations around the region. The current Volume 3 Menu, launched in November 2020, features international bartenders and their creations. Volume 3 offers a fully interactive virtual menu that enhances guest experience as well as showcases their team and concept to a wider audience outside of Singapore. The Volume 4 Menu is under development and will feature collaborations with local producers and incorporate regional spirits.

The Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award is the first in a series of special awards announced before the long-awaited reveal of Asia’s 50 Best Bars for 2021 on May 6 at 6:00 pm via The World’s 50 Best Bars Facebook page and 50 Best Bars TV YouTube channel. 

50 Best will reveal the 51st to 100th bar ranking on April 29, one week before the virtual ceremony. Other pre-announced awards are as follows:

  • April 8: Mancino Bartenders’ Bartender, as voted for by the bartenders from the establishments on the 2021 list.
  • April 15: One To Watch Award, which recognizes a bar that has the potential to break into Asia’s 50 Best Bars in future years.
  • April 22: Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award, an award that recognizes a bar’s outstanding commitment to sustainable practices.
